Project 10^100: 1 idea to help the most

Answering a vocabulary question to help the hunger (Freerice.com)? That’s a good idea, but Google needs more! While celebrating the 10th Anniversary, Google has launched project 10^100 (called “ten to the hundredth”) to gather as many as life-saving idea as well and to bring the best of those ideas to life. So what can you do to help the world? Just let your creative ideas shine to help the most!

Core spirit is to help people, including you

This is important, I think. Some people might says, contributing the idea is just contributing the chances for Google to raise another million dollars profit. Well, it might be true but why don’t we focus on what we can get? Like Google says, you get good karma and the satisfaction of knowing that your idea might truly help a lot of people.

For my opinion, I can’t provide the material needs to bring my ideas to life and if Google can cover for it, I would be very happy to see my ideas are saving lives, such as the Hippo Water Roller mentioned in the promotion video. I do like to put down all the material thinking and focus on the real need of the world, would you join this movement to help the world?

It’s better to know the game before you play the game

Every competition has its own winning criteria and I highly recommend you to read the criteria of this project before you want to start the game.

There are 5 main criteria for your life-saving idea:

Reach: How many people would this idea affect?
Depth: How deeply are people impacted? How urgent is the need?
Attainability: Can this idea be implemented within a year or two?
Efficiency: How simple and cost-effective is your idea?
Longevity: How long will the idea’s impact last?

If you want to know more about the guidelines, please visit the “How it works” and “FAQ” page on the project’s web site.

Submission form, another guideline for your idea

Form decides your idea’s content. You can access into “Submission form” page to see how exact the form is.

What’s important in the submission form is you have to create a name for your creative idea, and select the category based on your idea description, then describe your idea in depth of just 300 words (which means you do not need a professional project book, but just idea).

You would also have to answer some other question like “What problem or issue does your idea address?” which would really help to shape your idea into practical stuff. Well, the deadline is 20th October and you still got 20 days, enjoy the brainstorming!

After due date, a duel would begin

Idea submissions are due by October 20, 2008. On 27th January, vote would begin and your idea would shine before the every eye of the people in the world. Although your idea might fail (friendly speaking) in this program, Google would also inform you if another company wants to bring your ideas to life. So I would just quote the sentence from the Google as an ending,

‘Good luck, and may be the ones who help the most win.’
