Zinmag Primus 2.0

After Zinmag Remedy 2.0, we have now upgraded Zinmag Primus to version 2.0 with several issues fixed and installed new feature!

SEO Fixed

As SEO is very important for the serious Blogger, we have rechecked the template and worked out our best to fix every possible SEO issue. Same with the Zinmag Remedy 2.0, we have improved the ‘h tag’ of the Primus template, and probably rearrange the code to make its structure completely similar to standard template, Minima’s structure.

99% Widgetized

For Primus 2.0, we have widgetized all the part from the top navigation bar to the bottom tabber section. Besides the extremely easy Twitter section which needs you to configure it in ‘Edit HTML’ mode, you can now throw out all your worries and just customize Remedy in Page Element section!

Improved CSS and Template Structure

We have modified the template’s CSS code to fix some issues like misaligned image in the ads space on the main page. We have also made some modifications on JavaScript/ HTML gadget to make your customization faster and easier.

Improved Featured Content

Sicked of ‘click-edit-click-edit’ mode? Now you can manage all the featured content in just one click, one HTML/JavaScript gadget!

Added ‘Read More’ Feature

We have received several request to add ‘Read More’ Feature for this professional template. We have heard your voice, now we have installed this feature in this template, for your professional use!

You can observe the demoand download theZinmag Primus 2.0 Blogger template

Reupload is recommended

As Zinmag Primus 2.0 has very different template code with version 1.++, we suggest our precious Primus user to backup the template and all the gadget data, then upload the entire version 2.0 to your blog and setup all the gadget again, have your blog fresh again!

Set up the Top Navigation Menu

You can customize your header navigation link to your own preferred link. To achieve this, access into ‘Layout’ and under the ‘Page Element’ section, click on the ‘Edit’ of the ‘Top Navigation Menu’ and configure the Link Gadget setup.

Set up the Second Navigation Menu

You can customize your header navigation link to your own preferred link. To achieve this, access into ‘Layout’ and under the ‘Page Element’ section, click on the ‘Edit’ of the ‘Second Navigation Menu’ and configure the Link Gadget setup.

Set up the ‘Featured Content’

There’s also got a wide space under the sliding carousal, which you can access into the space through the ‘Page Element’ section. Simply copy the code below, then access into ‘Layout’ and under the ‘Page Element’, click on the ‘Edit’ of the ‘Featured Content’, paste and edit the code with the corresponding item.

<div class=’slide’>
<h2><a href=’POST-LINK-HERE’ title=’POST-TITLE-HERE’>POST-TITLE-HERE</a></h2>
<span class=’slmet’> Posted by POST-AUTHOR-HERE On Month – Day – Year </span>
<img alt=” src=’IMAGE-LINK-HERE’/>

If you want to have more than 1 Featured Content slide, you can copy, paste and edit the code above again in the same HTML/ JavaScript gadget.

Set up the Main Page’s Ads Space

Zinmag Primus template got an ads space at the right of  the blog title, and you can setup the ads space with Google Adsense Ad Unit 468×60 Ads. To achieve this, simply access into ‘Layout’ and under the ‘Page Element’ tab, click on the ‘Edit’ of the ‘468×60 Ads’, copy and paste your Adsense or ads code then ‘Save’ to show the ads.

How to hide article’s content on the main page

As this template got ‘Read More’ function, you probably want to hide some text from being displayed on the main page. In fact, you just need some extremely easy step to achieve this. Simply copy the highlighted code below, then access into ‘Settings’ and under the ‘Formatting’ tab, paste the code into the ‘Post Template’.

<span class=”fullpost”></span>

On the next time you write an article, you just need to add this line of code to hide the text. For example,

<span class=”fullpost”>Here are texts you want to hide</span>

Set up the Twitter Updates section

You can personalize the Twitter Updates section to show your own Twitter updates!

To achieve this, access into ‘Layout’ and under ‘Edit HTML’ tab, press [CTRL+F3] to find the code below and edit the code with corresponding item.

Set up the ‘Video of the day’

There’s a video section on the bottom of the mini post section, and you can put favorite Youtube video inside the section by just few simple steps.

To setup your favorite Youtube video, just copy the video’s embed code link, then access into ‘Layout’ and under the ‘Page Element’ tab, click on the ‘Edit’ of the ‘Featured Video’, paste the code then ‘Save’ to show the video!

Your Youtube video’s embed code link is located below the profile of the video uploader, and you can adjust the (embed)’s width and height inside the code to fix the section size. The recommended width and height for the video is 310 and 219.

Set up the 125×125 Ads

You can change the 125×125 ads image to your own ads image. To achieve this, simply copy the code below and access into ‘Layout’ and under ‘Page Element’ tab, click on the ‘Edit’ of the ‘125×125 Ads’, paste and edit the code with corresponding item.

<a href=’YOUR-TARGETED-LINK’ rel=’bookmark’ title=’#’><img src=’YOUR-IMAGE-LINK’ alt=’#’/></a>

  6. Bulimic March 22, 2009 at 7:26 pm

i think you guys didn’t fix the ‘date of post’ bit because as usual only the time of post is shown but no dates.

  7. sadunkal March 22, 2009 at 10:39 pm

Thanks a lot for the template and all the info!

    But I still got a problem… :)

When the blog post is “too” long, then the tags at he bottom of the post start to go down and down. They interfere with other stuff in the end. It’s visually disturbing and also not so user friendly. Do you know how that can be fixed? Any help?

    Thanks again.

  12. Archie March 25, 2009 at 11:25 pm

Great update Alvaris! Thanks for making these templates available for the average joe to use. I’ve never really had much interest or knowledge in html, but since I started using your templates I’m beginning to appreciate it more and more. I’m actually having fun trying modifying your templates. :)

I do have another question though. Is is possible to embed video clips in the featured content section instead of just images?

  13. razv4n March 29, 2009 at 9:59 am

Hi!Great template,I like it very much ’cause now is more easy to install it.But I have a problem with my “Read more” widget.I can click on it.I mean,it doesn’t highlight in red and you can’t click on it so you can see the entire post.Help please!

  15. Anonymous March 30, 2009 at 7:34 am

i have a problem with the slide on the homepage. With some browser, i don’t see that, while other it’s ok.

    scuse me for my english.

  16. sadunkal March 30, 2009 at 7:40 am

I solved the problem I earlier mentioned. Apparently it didn’t have anything to do with the length of the post. It had to do with the number of tags: If there are too many tags then a second line of tags needs to be created in order to display them all. But the default template isn’t compatible with a second line. So what I did was to increase the height of the .singleinfo { section, from 15px to 30 px I guess… Then you get enough space for a second line, if you want a third line you’ll have to increase it even more, but in Blogger you can’t add more than 200 characters of tags anyway, so you’ll probably never need a third line.

Also the Read more… text was too close to the border for my taste. To avoid that I added a padding:0px 10px 0px 10px; to the line above the one with Read more…

Apart from these visuals, I don’t know if my read more widget works properly though, didn’t try it yet.

i’m new at blogging, started just a month back or so with absolutely no idea of html or nethin next to it.. the first template that i used was color paper by u. a gr8 template.. then i came across primus 1.0. brilliant again. wen u released the tweaked up version, i kind of wanted to have the first look of color paper and ease of primus together in one template. so i have kind of forged them all together… primus 2.0, 1.0 nd color paper.. its just been a day or two that i’ve put the blog up again with this new template and i wanted to make sure that u dont ‘ve ne problem with the changes i’ve made. hope u like it. thanks gain for all the brilliant templates..luv dem all. cheers \m/

hi.. i’ve noticed a small problem.. in the featured content, in the main title, characters like”g”, “y” “p”, the lower part of these characters is not fully displayed.. at first i thought it was because of the modifications i’ve done, but then tried it again in a new blog and got the same result.. rest everythin workin fine… thanks again for a gr8 template.. peace \m/

I fell in love with your Zinmag Primus and am TRYING to adopt it for my blogger blog hosted at my domain. Being not tech savvy not even with the minimal html knowledge finding it difficult to find one who would help me with all that minor tweaking.
Can you offer me some help there?
    Love to hear from you..

  27. Zuze April 5, 2009 at 8:52 am

Hi Alvaris, this template just rocks, thanks! I noticed only one thing: in ur prior version 1.0, it was possible to add sub categories (children ;-)) to the tabs in the navbar, e.g. sth. like this: ul class=’children’

Unfortunately, i can`t find those lines in the new code. Can you tell me a way to have those also in the new template? This would make it perfect.
    Best wishes

  28. Red Devil April 5, 2009 at 11:46 am

  32. Free Ads April 19, 2009 at 4:17 pm

Great Job! What a wonderful template. Except for the “Read More” feature. Can you fix it and turn it to the automatic “Read More”? So we do not need to insert function, it's automatically truncated.

  33. Vegas Treasure Chest April 23, 2009 at 8:24 pm

How is the meta description and keywords handled? I added but it does not show up in seo quake.

  34. silent storm April 25, 2009 at 11:27 pm

HI. Love this template. I just couldn’t figure out how to make my date stamps appear. I’ve been up all night tweaking and configuring the codes (you can tell I’m not a techie!) and I’m hoping not to re-upload it again since it’s just too much work for me. I would really really appreciate it. Many thanks.

  35. LoLLY JeaN April 25, 2009 at 11:44 pm

    is the subcategories function removed?

  36. ingindiklik April 26, 2009 at 12:00 pm

But still have a shortfall, when this template reached to final version?
How to display the STOP link on the slider and move that?
I will use this template, please immediately upgraded and improved.
I have been and still use primus 1.0.

    All the best:)

  39. ania April 29, 2009 at 2:40 pm

Thanks for this great & free template!! :)

Those asking for the datestamp thingie: Go to settings->formatting and change the "Timestamp format" to include date :)

Thought I'd add some thoughts while I'm here too, hope Alvaris will reply if possible :)

    – I miss the default-bar at top from the blogger-templates – the one allowing you to quickedit the layout, quickaccess "make new post" thingie when logged on, quicaccess the blogger dashboard. Any way to get it back?

    – Is it possible to move the "comment" section from the top to the bottom of the posts? Would appreciate help/pointers if so :)

    – Do you happen to know how to add a "followers"-widget without having to display who's actually following you? :p

Once again, thank you so much for this template and your work :)

  56. joel June 3, 2009 at 4:34 am

I cannot figure out how you get the “read more” code to work. I am not doing something right because it will not work on my website. Is there any way you could elaborate a little more in detail on how you go about getting it set up right? Maybe a couple of screen shots?

    • Alvaris Falcon June 7, 2009 at 12:55 pm

Thanks for your detailed report! Discussing with you through the email. ;)

  57. John Castaneda June 4, 2009 at 2:39 pm

Hi Alvaris. Firstable, let me thank you for bloggerize this amazing template. It looks so pro! I have created two blogs under this template:

I have read you and your team have created a new version of it (2.0), How can I update it? I did read the .txt file in the zip update package but it is not clear. I just dont find the exact code to change it.

    What can I do?

  58. Guilherme Cristofani June 8, 2009 at 1:54 am

Hey, I’m having some troubles trying to make everything work:

    – The “date of post” doesn’t show dates, only time

    – The “Read more” doesn’t work, so I took it off with your tutorial (thanks for that!)

    – I can’t make the slider work properly. Is there a missing code or something?

    A tip:

    – To get those “child” subitens in the menu, download the primus 1.0 and copy the code for that. You won’t have them as a gadget anymore but you’ll be able to use it. Be sure to not to use strange signs as ^~ç´`’ in it or you’ll get a bug.

Thanks a lot for the effort and those are the olny things missing in order to make of it a perfect template.

    • Alvaris Falcon June 13, 2009 at 11:46 am

Thanks for your very detailed report!

Sure, you can change the ‘date of post’ by changing the ‘Timestamp’ in the ‘Layout > Formatting’.

To make the slider working, you need to upload the Javascript files contained in the downloaded file to a hosting server like HotLinkFiles.com, then replace the file’s URL with corresponding ‘JAVASCRIPT-LINK-HERE’ in the template.

By the way, I have visited your blog and saw that you’re using the Lifestyle template, enjoy blogging and all the best! :D

  59. domforth June 12, 2009 at 1:14 am

This may be a basic question but is the tag cloud different from using labels?

If it is do you know how to set it up?

    Thanks in advance!!

    • anna June 13, 2009 at 12:06 am

      Hi Domforth
Your tag cloud corresponds to your labels. Set up the cloud with your labels and hyperlink from your post,
      hope that makes sense!

Thanks Anna – I actually went ahead and followed instructions from Primus 1.0:

“Tag cloud, dynamic link for your blog:

It’s interesting to implement the tag cloud into the Primus template to make the link looks dynamic and professional. Although Blogger template does not have tag feature, you can simply create one in Tag Cloud Generator http://www.tagcloud-generator.com/ by configure the link manually.”

Now all I need to figure out is how to display the full date on each post (changing the timestamp through blogger settings doesn’t work!) and also how to set up the read more feature.

If anyone knows how to fix these two please help! :)

  60. Tez June 12, 2009 at 10:19 pm

awesome theme …works beautifully on firefox but i cant get it to display the same on IE…..is this theme IE compatible…if so what am i doing wrong?

    • Alvaris Falcon June 20, 2009 at 12:09 pm

Thanks for your kind words! Sure, I have checked this template on IE7 and IE8 and it’s displaying properly, can I know the version of Internet Explorer you specify? Thank you! :)

  61. Nightlife PR June 16, 2009 at 8:49 am

    Hi Alvaris,

I can not get the “read more” feature to work properly on the blog. I have followed the instructions provided. I also see that anytime a user has asked about this problem there is no public reply that would help the rest of us correct the issue.

This template is awesome and has great features. Please post further details on properly configuring the “read more” feature for all of us to review.

Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!

    • Joel June 17, 2009 at 2:45 am

I had the same problem and found that when I pasted the text in my post window was what caused the problem. After you paste the “read more” code into your blog window, switch the view to Edit HTML and check to see if the code has quotes inside of quotes on the “fullpost” part. For some reason it was doing that to mean that fixed the problem. Maybe it will help.

  62. anna June 17, 2009 at 5:29 pm

i wnat to remove the readmore feature! I want the whole post to display.

To get teh full date you need to go to formatting ( i think) and change the date setting there

    • Alvaris Falcon June 20, 2009 at 12:12 pm

Thanks for the request and the lovely support! ;)

I’m writing a post about the ‘read more’ feature, would discussing about removing the ‘read more’ feature in the post soon.

Please stay tuned on this site to get the appropriate method, thank you! :)

Hi Alvaris, I have been using Zinmag Primus 2.0 for three weeks now in my blog. It was all right, but for the past 2 days my footer is behaving abnormally. For IE and Mozilla, it is working properly, but for chrome, opera and safari the footer is shifting left side. I have tried with the css but of no use. Please help as it is really looking ugly and since it is in air for some time I am afraid i might loose my visitors. Please help

    • Alvaris Falcon June 28, 2009 at 6:46 am

Thanks for your very detailed comment! I have checked the original Primus template and it displays properly in Chrome, Opera and Safari. Can I know the modification you performed to your precious blog?

Hope to hear more from you, thanks! ;)

      • Wasim June 28, 2009 at 5:01 pm

Well can you suggest how to switch specific CSS file
between browsers. Cause if that could be done then applying margin:0px 0 0 67px in #footer, is making it work properly in chrome, opera and safari. But then the same problem occurs in IE.

      • Wasim June 28, 2009 at 4:54 pm

Hi Alvaris, thanks for the comments, Didn’t do much modification with the template, just added a few widgets tats all. Can this error be fixed ??? Yesterday I redirected my blogsite to domain http://www.studionelive.co.cc you can check it out.
Help me to troubleshoot this flaw on my blog.
        Hope to hear from you.

hi falcon, you can help me?
I love this template, especially when I found the version 2.0, but this version is something wrong, all images and buttons disappear. I am doing something wrong? I see the folder of images with ‘please upload first’ not only understand how to upload pictures … I downloaded the version 1.2 hosted in’image primus’ …
Forgive me if I write something wrong, I am Brazilian and my English is still short … lol.
You can send reply to email.

…and you can view the problem in my test site.

    • Alvaris Falcon June 29, 2009 at 9:23 am

Thanks for your very detailed comment and report! I’m glad that you love this template! :D

I have visited your blog and the Blogger system said it’s not registered yet, can I have your correct blog address to know the issue further? Thank you! ;)

  66. Alvaris Falcon July 1, 2009 at 5:35 am

    Hi Waism,

Thanks for your further comment! Sure, you can define CSS for specific browser by follow the guide below:

Please put the code between < !/b:skin> and < !body>, hope this helps! ;)

*Ignore the ‘!’ used in ‘<>‘.

    • Wasim July 1, 2009 at 10:57 am

Thanks for your comment, the conditional comments in CSS , which you said worked!! Now the footer is working nicely. Only a mere thanks is not suffient for the time you spent on these templates. Surely I will post an article of your work on my site. Thanks Again.. :)

Hi Alvaris, nice to speak to you again. I have a question :) , well I have seen the Zinmag Remedy 2.0 and liked its “tabber” part , can it be customizes into zinmag primus 2.0 as a widget?? If the answer is yes , how? and hey dont forget to visit my site.. I will be uploading an article on this site by Tuesday coming week..

    • Hive commentator July 5, 2009 at 4:01 am

      Thanks for precious words, Wasim.

You can add a tabber part to the template but you need to search for that on other blogs.

Because at Falconhive we will take only template issues and not template customization requests.

Thank you and All the best.

Hi Xaris, I have seen your blog. Well try to change the image size, which you are posting in the featured contents, to 250×120 px. Hope that would work.

  73. Jenny Tucker July 8, 2009 at 6:48 pm

Hello! Thank you for your template, I am converting to version two from the earlier primus. I am new to this and need help. I have downloaded the template, and uploaded the images to photobucket. I do not know what to do next. Do I paste the link for the image file that contains all photos, andif so where is that, or do I paste each link for each photo individually in the html code? Can’t wait to use this template!
    Thanks again!

    • Wasim July 9, 2009 at 4:44 am

Well Jenny you have to paste the link of the code in the HTML part individually.. Each bit of instructions is given in the HTML code. HOpe that would help..

Anyone know the best image size/dimensions for the slider? I still haven’t figured it out. Not sure if it was already posted anywhere else. Thanks

    • Rohit August 11, 2009 at 11:35 am

If you want to specify an image width then you can make it 100% . Height of the image will align automatically.

All the best. If you need any further help then let of know.

  83. domforth August 12, 2009 at 11:34 am

Right everyone – I’ve finally figured out the “Read More” function and how to get the dates and times to work too!

They are both really easy to fix!

For read more all you need to do include the following text in your post:

BUT PAY ATTENTION TO THE QUOTATION MARKS YOU USE!! If you copy and paste it the quotation marks may be the wrong type. So type it manually.

This means your post should look like this:

This is the post that displays on the main page

This is the text hidden on the next page

To add date AND time at the top of each post, you must change the TIMESTAP FORMAT and not just the DATE FORMAT in Setting – Layout in Blogger.

Really simple fixes I know, but hope this helps!!!

  85. Jim Nayzium August 17, 2009 at 3:46 pm

I had to switch the comments, post a comment to the pop-up version because the comment inside the page gets scrunched out by the layout.

Not sure if it something I had done or what.

I will post it back to indicate my issue briefly — so please check my link and look at the comments

(The embedded comment form can not be used if you have Post Pages disabled.) Is the message in the back-end — could this be relevant.

    Please check this link
and go UNLOGGED IN — and see if you can post a comment without scrolling down to enter the verificiation deal — and on my mac, there aren’t even scroll bars.

    • Hive commentator August 18, 2009 at 4:25 pm

      Hello. Thanks for your comment.

The error which you are facing is am error from the blogger and is not an template error. Many blogs all over the world are facing this. More details of this issue will be available at known-issues.blogspot.com .

    Thank you :)

  91. nutri August 31, 2009 at 9:57 pm

    Hi falcon,
    I found the solution.
By looking at the older post, you redirected an user to a tutorial for removing the “read more”.

Well, I clicked on “develop widget”,
then “read more” appeared on the HTML code.

Sorry to have bothered you :)

how could I remove the space between my header and the second navigation menu, on my blog please?

and sorry to spam you so much!!

    • Panks September 5, 2009 at 11:01 pm

      Hi Nutri,

You need to change the placing of picture on your header more towards left and that white space will go higher up!!

You can also change the color of the background then to the same grey of your header and then you will be able to actually mask it.

If you are unclear I can explain you about the color thing in detail. Mail me if you want at askpanks@gmail.com

Amazing work you have done. No doubts about it. I was looking for another template online for my new blog and guess what many many templates were somehow inspired by the same format!! Nice Work!Looking forward for more!!

The slider in the Primus, worked only couple of times when I hotlinked all the files at hotlinkfiles. BUT now, it has just stopped. Its not even a week that i updated to version Primus2.0 and hotlinked.

Strange thing is the slider was working good yesterday after so many days in my college at New York University. Not anywhere else!!

Can you please tell me what mught be happening??

    My website is http://www.MedAbroad.info

    Expecting a reply aanytime soon.

You might have exceeded your bandwidth at hotlinkfiles.com . You might need to use a different site or switch to a premium account.

First of all thanks for your great work your sharing with us!
For my problems now..I have a few questions and i will be great full if you can help me!
1)I installed the ready template (not that with manual uploading the jpgs)
my featured content works just fine. What i can’t figure out is the widget for 468×60 headbanner. In the dashboard “add widget” it was missing.I find it inside the “edit html” area,i changed it with my adsense code but it was not visible (i know i have to wait for some time for adsense to show up).Today i figured out from other persons blogs here (looking to page source of their blogs) what i’m missing and i discovered this code (i had the first div tag on my template)

I didn’t had this code on my template.I add it,it’s created(!!) widget area there where suppose to be from the begging but when i press “add widget” it’s open with “Bx-(numbers)” error.Do i missing any part of the code in the rest of my template to make the damn widget work so i can display adds there?
And second question, how i can display Twitter updates?I can’t find any help to your article.
i hope you don’t mind for the personalization i made on the template :)
It’s new blog and i’m missing only this two things so i can start blogging!

on my Blog: http://brightlightbigdarkness.blogspot.com. I am having issues with this template. I really like the lay out but the features slider is not working correctly in IE8 or Safari.
First the slider is not working for some reason and I am getting the following javascript error:

Secondly, the slider image is repeating for some reason. In IE8 & Safari it is repeating both underneath and to the right. Not sure why this is happening, all I did was add the image per instructions. Please Help!

I am sorry. But we do not handle personal customization requests. We can only respond to template issues.

      Best of Luck..

Firstly, I want to say that your templates, especially the Zinmag Primus 2.0, are awesome! I’ve been using the Zinmag template since late last year and I had no problems whatsoever. However, when I recently updated the template references as per GooglePageCreators advise, the widgets sort of messed up. I wonder if this is because of the updating. Kindly advise. Muchas gracias.

This issue can be solved if you upload a previous back up of the template.

    Hello hello hello!

First off- awesome template! This is definitely the best template I’ve seen! Thing is I’m not familiar with HTML…I’m having problems setting up the featured content bit and the ads.

    Featured content:
I use the code mentioned above, but face the following problems
    1. Link doesn’t work
    2. Images don’t show
    3. Title and summary text start outside of the box
    4. What are the exact dimensions for the image being used?

Image doesn’t show. Link doesn’t work. I wanted to use the ad space to put a follow me on twitter image (uploaded on photobucket) and link it to my profile. The image doesn’t show, and when I click on the link it forwards to http://urbanretroecho.blogspot.com/%E2%80%99http://twitter.com/pramitsamal%E2%80%99 instead of http://twitter.com/pramitsamal%E2%80%99

    Sorry for bothering you.

    Take care…stay safe…have a good one!

    < *a href='POST-LINK-HERE' title='POST-TITLE-HERE' rel="nofollow">POST-TITLE-HERE
Posted by Author On Month – Day – Year

Note: Remove the “*” of the “<*a" Enjoy. Admin MkvMovieZ.com
